AMS Behavior Tip of the Week: Setting Classroom Expectations
Students are better able to meet expectations when they know what those expectations are in the first place.
Key Take Aways:
Each expectation should be well defined: “Being responsible means turning in my work on time to the proper shelf and then quietly returning to my seat.”
Individual classroom expectations should complement the expectations of your schoolwide model.
Collaboration, buy-in, and student engagement are key, so invite your students to collaborate on determining goals and expectations.
Expectations should also be positively stated, such as “Keep hands and feet to yourself” rather than “Don’t touch others.”
Classroom expectations need to be clearly displayed somewhere in the classroom for continued reference and explicitly taught using examples and opportunities for students to practice.

How To Support At Home:
Be Specific
Reiterate Often
Stay Consistent
Involve Them
Use Visual Aids

Rise and shine, brilliant mind!
Welcome to another day of amazing discoveries!
Hello, world-changer!
Good morning, future leader!
Ready to make today incredible?
Here are some after school greeting ideas:
Here comes my favorite problem-solver!
Hello, my wonder-seekers!
Good afternoon, possibility maker!
Here are my courageous questioners!
Hello, creative genius!
